As part of my effort to decontaminate an incubator in the lab, I just put a phenol solution inside to sterilize the whole thing with toxic vapors overnight. I had to look through all the flammable chemical stores in the lab to find it, and really, looking at the labels on all of these chemicals, there's no way it's a good idea to unleash hordes of premed undergrads into the orgo lab to play with carcinogenic materials. I know most of the people in my orgo lab section either did not or could not follow directions a good portion of the time. That, and the lab manager for the undergraduate labs was this old Chinese lady who didn't really teach her work-study students safety protocols very thoroughly (I should know, I was one of them).

So it's been a while...
I haven't updated this thing in quite a while, and really, it's because I don't feel comfortable posting from work, and I've been busier now than I was when I started (fancy that). On top of that, I don't really spend all that much time on my computer anymore when I get home.
The only reason I did before was to try and catch up on news or play some video games, and let's be honest, my laptop wasn't a viable gaming platform from about a year after I bought it, if not earlier. It's three years old now, the warranty is just about done -- I think it actually expired last week -- and I should probably stop abusing it with really graphics-intense games. I'm pretty sure I killed the motherboard at least twice that way.
So to that end, I managed to convince PB that getting an Xbox 360 would be a good way to go, and cheaper than getting a computer that would be more than just an econobox. Interestingly, I was the one looking at building a super-cheap computer, and PB was the one pushing for one that was in the $1,500 range. I figured $500 for a console, another controller, charger cords & rechargable batteries, and a whole stack of games was a good compromise? That, and she bought a couple more rats as part of the deal.
